When you click "Opt Out" or send a "Remove Me" message, you're actually adding your name to a "Known Good" e-mail address list. The original spammer may never spam you again, but they'll sell your name to others. That's how they make their real money. I read an article a few weeks ago about how "Known Good" lists of 250,000 addresses went for anywhere between $15,000 and $30,000.

Just delete the e-mails.
