Adelphia's Bad Service

After spending two weeks making my personal web site in flash (not easy) I got a domain name and installed IIS. To my surprise I couldn’t get the web server to work outside of my local network.

I must have spent 5 hours trying to figure out why I could not get the web server working. Then it hit me! They Block port 80 (this is needed for a web site to work without extra syntax), I know this because I heard about ISP’s blocking port 80 to prevent people from spreading the code red virus. When I called them to ask them if port 80 was blocked I waited 1 hour to talk to a level 1 tech (high school drop out).

I asked the tech if they block port 80 and why my upload speed seemed to be 10kb/sec. My download BTW is about 700kb/s. I could tell that I had just blown a hole in his mind; he replied "Let me ask my Sr. Tech". OH GOD! This wasn’t a hard question (at least I don't think it was)

After another 30 min's he comes back to the phone and tells me "I don't know??? But it doesn’t matter since you are not allowed to host a web site anyway" this is mind blowing. They would even give me an answer. Then he tells me "We do offer a free 5MB's of web space." Yeah that’s like maybe half of the intro I did in flash. Oh and they told me that my upload is 128Kb/sc and they didn’t know why my upload was so bad. They didn’t even offer me a new modem.

To sum it up they suck, all they did was give me the run around. If they would have just told me the truth maybe I would be so mad.
