Yes, they were very good. I miss that mag also. Their sense of humour was entertaining.

Maximum PC was great when they where called boot. I have been getting that mag since issue 1.
Nowadays, they are junk.

PC Gamer was good also...back in 97. It was very thick back then...and well worth the price. I am
thinking that 97 was the heydays of computer mags. I have noticed that fewer and fewer are
gracing the local magazine racks. What is left..is either too thin, or too expensive..or both.

Take Maximum PC. They used to have one of the best CD ROM supplements. Now, it is about
as good as the proverbial AOL CD. So, why pay $9.99 Canadian for it? They don't come without
the CD, and you are paying lots of money for less content. Got to love it.

Take PC Gamer. It is now so thin, that it takes me only approximately 30 minutes to read it cover
to cover. The reviews are junk as well, and advertizing has increased.

Computer Gaming World is still good. Lots of reading in it. Worth the time to read it also.

PC Upgrade is ok. Getting better then Maximum PC. I still have many problems with their "how
to build PC" articles (Their decisions are often peculiar for components).

As you can see...less and less PC gaming mags around worth reading.
