1. Why, when I try to shut down the pc it goes to the windows screen and says windows is shutting down your pc but, just stays there. It never shuts down (powers off). And 2. why can't I get networking to work? I have done it before. Neither pc (I'm only using 2.) will find eachother. I have win ME on this pc and the other is running Win 98. I installed the networking wizzard on the 98 pc. And I'm sure the pc names are correct when I'm searching for them. And I have them both set to MSHOME. Any ideas? Thanx in advance all!!!!

Do you have the shut down fix installed? Go to Windows update page and check.
Or
Try running Msconfig
Click on advanced
Check - Disable Fast Shut Down
Otherwise Microsoft has patch at site....
As for the Networking check here. (http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/troub-331.shtml)

No luck on networking. And Disable fast shutdown was already checked. I can't find the patch either.

For networking:
1. network settings - check to see if your network protocols and access level settings are similar to those on other PCs.
2. network privaliges - see your network administrator, you may not have correct access rights granted to you.
3. are the drives you want to map to shared? - they'l have to be for you to acess them.

Is there a way to just download the patch? I need to download it then put it on a disk and then put it on the other pc. And networking is still notworking (lol).

Got it! Ok, I re-installed Windows and it works fine now. And I know what's wrong with the networking, I need a driver for the ethernet adapter. Any idea on where to get one?

Shouldn't the adapter come with a driver?
If not, just take out the adapter, boot up windows, shut down, and put in the adapter again, boot up windows and have it find a driver for it.
