The popular search Google (http://www.google.com) has been reportedly blocked by Chinese servers as early as Saturday. Apparently, the government blocked Google because searches could bring up links to pornography:

The government openly attempts to control Web content in China, where the Internet threatens Communist Party control over the media. It blocks several foreign news sites and frequently forces domestic sites to expunge content deemed unwholesome.

Google banned? Their loss.

Despite the apparent block on Google, Yahoo, which uses Google for searches, was still available in China.

More anti-chinese propraganda. They exaggerate on the fact that google is blocked by "all of china". If it was blocked in Shanghai or Hong Kong..people would go on riot or something. This "block" is probably only on the 2-3 biggest ISP's in Beijing controlled by the government.

The fact that they banned Google the site is surprising...it doesn't make sense to block a search engine. maybe the political people just wanted to make a point and blocked the biggest foreign site they knew.
