An Alpha version of Doom 3 which was seen at E3 has been rumored to be leaked out into the public appears to be true.

John Carmack has made a small post on the Slashdot forums regarding the Doom 3 leak of last week. Here's what he had to say:

No, this was not leaked on purpose.

Yes, we are upset about it, and it will have some impact on how we deal with some companies in the future, but nothing drastic is going to change in terms of what support is going to be available.

Making any judgements from a snapshot intended for a non-interactive demo is ill advised.

I've done nothing but laugh at all the ****ing morons out there. Moronic tools who seem to think that the leak is representative of final quality.

Fools.

Not only that Nova, its screwing up peoples systems. I saw one forum where at least 14 people who used it screwed their video cards for good.

I would rather play the final version of the game than some Alpha POS.

It's just bragging rights for whatever reason. "Hey I got a Doom 3 Alpha copy"

Who cares.

I don't think the Alpha could damage a video card. How the hell would id playtest it? Now it might cause other types of problems, but nothing permanant.

Waste of time to download an unfinished tech demo.

Having your blood pumping in anticipation because of what you saw is just priceless.

Do I need to say more

It is not a waste of time.... maybe it is , yesterday I had to miss school.... and this is nothing more than an Alpha

There should a holyday so ppl can enjoy it when it comes out :)

I hear TechTV's "The Screen Savers" showed a clip of the leak.

That's just sad. I would have expected more from a relatively respectable technology show, but then I remember the dorks hosting the show and it all makes sense.

id should sue them for practicing piracy. And for any number of copyright infringements, since I seriously doubt they had permission to put the game on tv.

Wow, Im surprised TechTV did that. Very dumb on their part.
