comments/read comments section

I would like to add a "comments" and "read comments" section to my website. Something similiar to livejournal.com. Basically after each update a user could respond to what I've written and also read what others have written.

I'm aware this may be a totally loaded question that involves alot. In that case I'm just looking for a point in the right direction. Thanks.
