jumping white box on MPEG playback

When I play an MPEG video file (either mpeg 1 or 2) that I have created (using WinDVR video tape to MPEG file) on my notebook (Windows 2000), there is a white box (actually nine tiny squares in a 3x3 configuration --- BTW the upper right square has a black square inside it) that jumps around nervously all across the picture. The same MPEG file copied to my PC (Windows XP) plays fine (no box). This is true for both RealOne Player and Microsoft Media Player.

Anybody got an idea how to fix this?

Have you tried downloading all available updates for Windows and your video card drivers on the notebook?
