Living out in, practically, the middle of no-where, as I do, I have never had the opportunity to go with any type o broadband connection. However I just signed a lease for an apartment, which I will be moving into around the first week of August. It is in the greater Tidewater/Hampton Roads area of Virginia Beach, VA; a rather large city with all kinds of options. However after browsing around I find that all Cable and DSL connection costs (per montly fee) are rather high - $39.99 or more a month; I thought it was cheaper than this :o Is there any sites where you can get listinings of all the broadband providers for a certain area? And while we're on this topic, what is reccomended - Cable or DSL? Thanks! :)
EDIT: Actually looking stuff up over at internetservices.cnet.com (http://internetservices.cnet.com) I see no Cable access, and really the only DSL available is EarthLink which is $29.95/month for the first 6 months then $49.95 a month after that. That's highway robbery. Well, actually it may not be, as I have no idea about broadband being as I said, I live out here where these people won't see broadband for another 10 years :o I just thought this sounded a little steep. Maybe not.. fill me in :) And also "CNet's Ultimate Guide To Cable Access 2003" confirms there is but one provider for cable access - Cox - for $49.99 - way too high :( . I guess I'll be stuck with dialup again
