Welp, he's running XP, uses Cable, and currently has IE version 6.0.2600.1106 (slightly older version of IE6), his Security is set to "Low" and has reset all his Advanced Check Boxes (under Internet Options) to "Default" ... Soo with the specs stated, here's the problem...
He told me everytime he tries to enter secure websites such as hotmail.com (basically sites you have to log-in to) it gives a DNS error saying it cannot bring up the web site.
I assumed it was something to do with internet parasites and spyware programs... I don't know if that's the problem, but I told him to get a program called Spyhunter, which scans for all parasites and spyware programs within the registry then removes them. He has quite a few programs on his computer including Savenow, Cydoor, and the dreaded Xupiter... Could any of these be causing it? but the basis of my question is not just that of the prior, but a solution in the repair of his IE. If anyone has any ideas, do tell :) I hope my assumptions will help rule out possibilities or present themselves more clearly.
Thanks.
