I was looking throught the templates in Word, but didn't come across exactly what i was looking for. If anyone has ideas... i need a background (off the internet or for whereever) that will spread throughtout a whole word document; so that when i print out a page, the picture will be printed fully on the 8x11 paper (clouds for example). Because I took pics from my computer and tried them on the Word Document and had no success; the picure would only spread through a portion of the page

Then I will write over the picture, is there any special way to do that...? cause usually u can only write next to a pic.

You can't put words over a picture in Microsoft Word.

If your goal is to get a full-page background image so you can print documents on top of them, I seriously recommend you check out the wide variety of specialty papers out there.

Some examples:

Office Depot, OfficeMax, and Best Buy all carry a ton of different printed papers.

I think you misunderstood me. ;)

The paper I directed you to already HAS pictures on it (like clouds and stuff) filling up the whole page. This is the best and easiest way to have an image as the background to a word document.

If you really want to do it the hard way:

To make a picture fill a whole page in Microsoft Word, if you really want to, just resize the picture:
1) Click on the picture (just one click) to select it. A box will appear with little boxes around it.
2) Click and hold on one of the little boxes at the edge of the picture. You can drag it to enlarge the picture. However, this will distort the picture. In order to get the picture to the very edge of the page, you will have to go into Page Setup and get rid of all the margin settings.

Well, lemme take aan alternative shot at this:

In Word, there is an option on how you would like the text to react with a picture... This can be done by clicking on the picture to highlight it, then going to Format -> Picture -> then choose the Layout tab ... there are five ways you can choose on how to interact text with pictures, and the one you're looking for should be the "Behind Text" option ..

http://www.opentechsupport.net/images/support/word_behindtext.jpg

What you can do is get an image that will generously span the entire page (8.5 inches width, 11 inches height ... or 7.5 inches width, 10 inches height if you want margins) ... and as Shal said, it has to be the exact dimensions otherwise, it will be distorted ... and make sure the contrast is right so that text will be visible when you type over it...

Since you're using a picture off the internet, you have to make sure that the picture will decently spread over the whole page ... if it won't, don't stretch it, unless you like distorted backgrounds...

Shal's suggestions above are recommended, of course...

Is that in all versions of Word? I've never seen that before! Cool!

Well, mine was in Word 2000... I dunno if it's present in older versions, however :)

ok i understand everything, but...

"What you can do is get an image that will generously span the entire page (8.5 inches width, 11 inches height ..."

could u further explain this? i went to page setup and the paper size was set like that 8.5X11. But how can i make the picture grow to that size without stretching it and then distoring it?

you have to edit the image yourself using a graphics editor... but you would have to compensate for any difference in dimensions ... for example, if the image you want is only 5 inches by 5 inches, you would need to find a way to make up for the difference ... even if you proportionally stretch the image to 8.5 by 8.5 inches, there would still be about 2.5 inches missing from the height in order to totally cover the page...

So if the image you get is NOT exactly 8.5 inches by 11 inches, then you would need to edit the image ... otherwise, you can't use it as a flawless background for your document...
