Illegal My Computer

Well recently within the past week, whenever I try to open my computer icon, i get an illegal error for Internet Exlporer and I can't open it, but for the file My Music on my deskstop, I can open it just find and pruise through hard drive like always. It's just when I get to that main window with the hard drive and cd drives and stuff on it that it gives me the error. I've gotten all recent Updates for 98 so it's not that.

its probably going to be a format and reinstall, but try a registry cleaner first. then the repair function of 98. after that, its format time.

ok, search for free or shareware registry cleaners. registry first aid is decent, there are many more. run it, and be careful what you change. let the program try to find the path, dont stop it while its running. if a broken path isnt the problem, or the cleaner cant find a new one, youll need to try to repair it. back up everything you want to keep first. boot from the 98 cd, if a repair option isnt listed, choose install.
