Does anyone know of a good, free mp3 player??

I am currently using winamp3, but for some reason it hangs up my computer after I leave it running for a while. I have tested my computer a lot of times with different softwares and I am a hundred percent sure that the hang-ups are caused by winamp3.

Do you guys think it will solve the problem if I install a 2.x version of winamp? Or is there a better mp3 player out there?

Most likely yes.

Winamp 3 is completely different from the 2.x versions. After trying 3 briefly, I quickly switched back to an older 2.x version because back then, 3 could not use all of the cool plugins that made the 2.x versions appealing to me.

Oh, what are some of the good plugins that you'd recommend me to download for winamp 2.x?

Call me crazy but I like Windows Media Player 9 better than any version of Winamp. WMP9 has all the features if winamp, its integrated into windows, and in my opinion, it has a more friendly interface. Bare in mind that it uses 6-10 mb of memory compared to winamps 3-5 mb.

The mp3pro and mp3splice plugins would be two that come to mind.

windows media player has [I[too[/I] much imo.

The playlist/library thing function is waaay too complex. With winamp, up until winamp 3, you just added a directory from the playlist box, hit play and you were on your way. Not to mention the all powerful J key. It all depends in what you're looking for.

I love Winamp 2.7x, 2.78 being my favorite.

OMG don't ever use Real player unless you have no other options (like opening .rm files). Real player monitors your internet usage (or install some spywares, I forgot which one). You can go to www.tweakxp.com to check out their solution on how to stop Real player from spying on you.

A-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd stick with the old WinAmp, but that's my opinion. I use the latest version of it, although now it's making all of my audio files echo, and I can't get it to go away. :(
