Ok i need to wipeout my HD and re-install windows XP. the problem is when i put in the XP boot disc it asks if i wanna format my HD. I have a small 377mb partition on there should i install XP on the partition and then format the big part of the HD or what else could i do to wipe the HD clean???

how on earth are you going to fit xp on a 377meg partition? even if it fits, theres no point to a partition that small. repartition the drive, reformat it, then install xp. if your drive is 80g or higher, you might want more than one partition, but nothing smaller than 15-20gigs.

THX, i got Partition Magic 8 and found out it wasnt a partition, it was unallocated space. I split the drive, installed a second version of XP and Deleted the first one!!!!

Now that you have a good install of XP and PM 8, make yourself a set of PM rescue disks in case this happens again to you or one of your friends, with these disks you can wipe a drive, change paritions, or format a drive with an OS spec.
