I have never used an Ethernet card or modom card, so I have no idea how to even hook one up, in order to get on-line with my laptop computer. I bought my laptop from a private party, and it came with 2 Ethernet cards in it, but no adapters. Another friend had these little adapters to plug into the cards, but when I plug a phone line in to them, my computer still says that the modom is not plugged in. So, it is obvious that I am missing some key part of hooking up on-line. Can anyone out there tell me how to hook up and if there is anything else I need in order to do so.

if you dont have the adapters you need them to plug the cable in. you might be able to pick one up at the computer store, if not try ordering one from the manufacturer.
you cant plug a phone line into a ethernet adapter. if your trying to dial to the internet you need a modem.

Instead of ordering dongles from the manufacturer of old PCMCIA cards, go to Dells perigpherals site, enter your service tag, and get the mini-PCI versions of ethernet and modem cards so that everything is integrated.
