virus??? on yahoo messenger

I had an offline message on my yahoo messenger that said someone on my list had a virus and that if I did not send this message to every one on mt list i will be infected. Is this possible? Can you really get a virus frome someone on your buddy list?

It's possible, but usually only if you download a file from them.

The message you got is a hoax message. Do not send the message to anyone. Just delete it and forget about it... someone is playing a trick on you.

The only way to prevent a virus infection is with anti-virus software.

thats basically a chain letter type thing. youre better off ignoring it. if you actually did that, youd get chewed out royally by half of your buddy list.
