I would like to run Diablo 1 (runs off an IPX/SPX protocol) over a VPN to a friends computer, he is not in my LAN. I have Win XP, he has 2000. I am able to connect the VPN with TCP and IPX or only IPX protocols loaded. His computer does not appear under network neighborhood until I search for it using \\IP ADDRESS, however we are able to share files once we "find" each other.

I am stuck now, because I think the connection is working correctly, but when I load the game and ask for a IPX multiplayer game, the only option is to CREATE. It doesn't matter if either one of use is already in a game, diablo is not reading that an IPX game is availabe to join.

Further information:
My End: Win XP Pro, under router, defined as DMZ host (forwards all packets I think) IPSec pass through and PPTP passthrough enabled, multicast pass through enabled and block WAN request enabled.

His end - plugged directly into his cable modem.

Suggestions or Questions?

I went back and played around with it a little more. I have the IPX defined to be 802.3 (found it on a website somewhere). I still cannot find the game created on the other computer UNLESS....I host on my computer (the VPN server) then host on the other computer (VPN dial in user....from a cable modem) then quit the game on my computer (VPN server) then I will see the game name, however I get the error message, UNABLE TO JOIN.

**IF it was easy, I would already have done it, and I sure wouldn't be asking!**
