Lately when I have been coming into OTS, I think "Wow, is this a Tech help site, or a Pointless off topic posting site?"

Has anyone else noticed this?

Is this a positive or negative for the site?

I certainly think OTS is a positive on a whole, but should it really be called OT?

I do recognise that there are a large amount of people that contribute constructive help (and problems) to the site, but it seems to be overshadowed by the unconstructive garble (although in moderation does construct a community sense, but so does helping and sharing solutions and problems).

There are so many arguments that relate to this that I'm sure everyone has in the back of their mind, so here is your chance to argue the point of being off-topic instead of "on"-topic (or vice versa) most of the time.

I'm so glad I had the chance to be off-topic for a moment. It was fun, but the novelty is already starting to wear off...

Basically, we all got together here because we like to fix tech problems. However, OTS kinda became a community, and thus a lot of stuff went on in the general/off-topic forums.

Mostly, i like it, as it provides a good place for people to share funny stuff and debate over issues.

However, anyone who posts off topic or stupid stuff in the support forums deserves to be shot.

:D

I certainly haven't seen any of the off topic stuff interfere with the helping in my opinion. Most times my observation is that if the question has been asked a million times and can be found in various FAQs already posted, there are some people who will remain nameless that tend toward sarcasm if not out right parody. But let me be clear here, the first priority is to help gamers out with tech probs and gaming probs. I have no problem comparing our helpful staff with any other tech help site. We got some real good ones.
