i have messenger 6.1, why does v4.7 take control still

Hello, when i connect to the internet messenger v4.7, takes control and logs in, then i have to log in the msn 6.1, but if i do that then i get logged out again to the other version that is running, i also tried to remove it using add and remove windows components, but it is still there, last time this happend i blocked it with my firewall, but that caused other problems. i have even got it on auto sign in. Thanks

In Windows Messenger 4.7 go into Tools then Options. Under the first tab make sure to uncheck the Load and Windows Starup box then hit ok.

Then make sure in MSN Messenger 6.1 that you go to the same spot and check the box there to autoload.

That should force it to use 6.1 instead.
