I'm really having trouble transfering my hundreds of songs from windows media player over to itunes. If anyone has any information on this or know of any tricks and tips, I would greatly appreciate it.

What kind of trouble? you should be able to click on file>add file to library and navigate to whatever folder that you keep your music files in and highlight all of them and then click add. It should add all the files to the library then.

well lets say if I'm in itunes and i click file>import, I then goto "my music" click on an artist and no songs come up under the artists folder. And then you can select files of type, and the choices are .txt , .xml , .m3u. When that doesnt work (it never does) I tried opening up the music folder under my document and then clicking and dragging the indivdual song into the itunes window and it wont let me. I tried going into properties on the song and changing what player the song opens with, but nothing is working.

Like I said, go to File>Add file to Library. A window will popup and then u can go to your music folder. And the type of files at the bottom should say "All Files". High light all of them and it will add all of them (may take awhile if you have a lot). The problem with the import method is that there is no .mp3, .wmv, etc. for the kind of files. Therefore you cannot see them.

Well, thats not working either. If I goto my Kazza shared folder, all my music files show up. The files have the itunes icon next to them, I have no trouble clicking and dragging those into itunes. But when I goto my windows media player music files it won't let me click and drag those into itunes, the icons are different also, its a blue box with blue music icons coming out of it.
If I goto file>add folder or file and i navigate to the music file I want and select it, nothing happens, it doesn't show up on itunes.

To see the file extension, open your music folder, cliick on tools>folder options. When the window pops up, click on view and then uncheck "hide extensions of known file types" then click "apply" and "OK". Now when you look at the file you should see a file extension ofter the name. You may not want to keep this setting like this because if you rename a file you'll have to make sure you have the right fiel extension or you may not be able to open them correctly.

Now, I just checked my I-tunes and it does see .wma files, so I really don't know what could be causing your problem. The only thing that I could suggest at this point is to maybe uninstall i-tunes and reinstall it. Maybe something got corrupted.

One other thing, maybe try file>import folder, click on your music folder and see if that works.

one more thing:D right click on one of your music files and let your mouse hover over "open with" and click on "choose program". Then click on I-tunes in the box that pops up and click on the little box that says "always use the selected program to open this type of file". That will associate the music files with I-tunes. Maybe then you could move them to the library. That's about all I can think of. Good luck.

yeah the files are .wma but my itunes still isnt recognizing them. Ive tried associating the file with itunes before but thats not working either. I double click the file and itunes will open but thats all that happens, the song wont pop up on the library or start playing. I guess I'll have to reinstall it as a last resort but I'm gonna wait until I get my ipod and put the songs I already have on it so I dont lose them. I'll get back to you later if I find anything out or if the re-installation works.
