The two processes cannot be deleted from windows task manager and the folder they are in (C:\program files\common name) also cannot be deleted or quaranteened using pc-cillin. Any suggestions on how to get rid of these pieces of ****?

no instructions for comwiz, although you can try doing the same as for winnet:

Background task installed by the CommonName Internet Explorer Add-on toolbar. This toolbar enables you to enter keywords or short phrases which will take you straight to the website of the organisation that might have bought those keywords, or phrases (or a close match) from CommonName. So, for example, if CNN had bought the phrase "World News" and you typed "world news" in the CommonName toolbar, it would take you straight to the CNN website. CommonName often comes bundled with file sharing programs such as iMesh and older versions of Kazaa.

Recommendation :
In our opinion this is a useless system for the simple reason that, in the grand scheme of things, only a few companies have subscribed to the service. If the vast majority of the world’s websites operate outside of CommonName, what is the point of using the CommonName toolbar !!? To make matters worse, however, WINNET often misbehaves by hogging up to 90% of CPU time resulting in the PC slowing down to a crawl. We recommend de-installing anything to do with CommonName through the "Add/Remove Program" icon in the Control Panel, and then running Spybot from our Downloads library to complete the cleanup process.

I cannot find common name in ADD/Remove programs or a program related to it. Any time I run spybot it freezes when trying to remove the file, and adaware 6.0 also cannot remove it. Are there any other methods?

go into your startup file and make sure they arent starting on boot. then reboot and try to remove them.

I went to C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup, and there was nothing in the folder. Is there somewhere else that the startup file is located? I'm having trouble disabling winnet.exe using spybots tools. This damn program will just not go away.

hit the start button, go to "run", and type in msconfig. once youre in there, go to the startup tab. everything that loads on startup should be there.

I disabled winnet using msconfig, and then ran msconfig to check if it had worked, but winnet was once again enabled as it does when I try to use spybots tools. I tried rebooting but the program starts up again along with comwiz. Any other suggestions???

something else is reenabling them. look for something else on that list that shouldnt be there, and remove that too.
if all else fails, get a registry cleaner, and have it search for all registry entries involving your friends, and delete those entries.

Finally the problem is solved! I had to run in safe mode and that stopped the program from starting up. I then used a registry cleaner, spybot, and adaware 6, to clean it up. Thanks for all the help! :)
