A friend of mine has a computer, which very recently started bluescreening alot. I formatted it, reinstalled XP, and installed everything up to the video card drivers and the sound card drivers.

As soon as I installed the ATI drivers (Latest release, 3.10), it bluescreened immediatly at startup. I'm going to guess its because the drivers require SP1, when I didn't install SP1 (it slows down his machine).

So, does anyone know what the last released ATI driver release was that works fine on XP without SP1? Or has anyone heard of anything anout bluescreens with the latest ATI drivers?

ATI Radeon 8500
Windows XP without SP1

EDIT: Forgot to add, even after uninstalling the ATI drivers, it still bluescreens whenever a program is launched, (IE, Outlook Express, etc.). I plan on reformatting it again tonight.

Have you tried downloading latest drivers from the ATI homepage?
They seem to have an "all pourpose" version. Im afraid I cant help more, WinXP automaticaly recognized my ATI Club 128mb.
