XP Networking isnt working

I have a laptop runnin win XP and a desktop with XP too. i have a linksys wireless router, i cant get the network to have either computer show up. ive tried with the wireless card in my laptop and ive also tried it with the lan cable connected instead. im not sure what is wrong with it.

Are you running any firewalls?

Should we have more info, like what IPs, netmasks and gateways you gave them? netstat -r, maybe? Do you still have the old network information in the thing? Can you ping your broadcast address? Do you get any response to arp requests?

On your desktop right click My computer and goto properties goto computer name tab and goto change in the middle of the window and make sure they are on the same network name.
