View Full Version : cd drive and windows problem

ok guys im havin problems once more with my pc.......if i put a cd in my computer cd burner or dvd burner it will let me burn however it will not recognize the disk if i wanted to then play the disk.......so i tried 2 play another actual store bought game and music cd and it says the same thing "Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupt,or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows." this all just started about a week ago i had NO problem before also when i try and go to www.windowsupdate.com to update whatever it says i need it will not download anything i have tried and it has sat 4 over 8 hours and nothing happened so if ne 1 knows how 2 fix either problems PLEASE PLEASE HELP thank you sooo much

Are those two seperate drives or is it a combo drive?

OK, I really don't have many ideas but are both your drives hooked up on the same IDE? If so, move one to the HD IDE and set the CD-ROM as slave and see it it works. This is just a shot in the dark you understand. Also have you tried doing a virus scan, spyware scan, defrag and scandisk?
