I've seen this problem for a little while, but usually restarted and wiped it...

When I logon to my computer, at random times the NAV icon in the system tray says "Auto Protect is Disabled"

Going to the options and manually clicking on that does not work either, because I recieve the error:
http://www.troop63cobras.com/extra/chaos/support/errornva.JPG

Running Spybot, and manual search does not turn up anything unusual, a virus that may be controlling it.

System specs are:

Intel Pentium 4 CPU
1.80GHz
speed=1799
thisram=254
thisfreehd=C: 23283
thisaccel=GeForce4 MX 420/AGP/SSE2
directxversion=9.0

Only reason I decided to look into it is because it has been occuring recently. Does anyone know of something like this?

Well I'd suggest checking with norton/symantec, but i'll assume you already have....

If you don't have the cd's to reinstall why don't you try out a free virus program like AVG. I think its just as good, and its FREE!

Hello

It sounds to me that it is a software conflict, try disabling your zone alarm, then after disabling it, then see if you get the same errors, if so it was your zone alarm. if you have a firewall and a virus scanner you have to make sure they can work together and not against each other.

I am telling this because i have had problems myself.

I would not recommend using the free virus scanners or free firewalls, they do not keep the main program update, like zone alarm the free version is designed as a try before you buy, and is not warranted, so if you do get attached by an hacker you cannot report it. Plus these type of programs may have loads of back doors for the hackers to get in, i mean that the hackers have already found the back way in, but the company has not updated the free version, they update these every 6 months about. My friend has AVG, and when i go to his house with a ZIP 250 disk to copy files off his computer, i always scan the disk when i get back and AVG on his computer did not pick up the viruses that my virus scanner picked up, and i pay for my virus scanner, although he can't afford to buy a new one, but it just goes to show that the free ones are just a program running that is useless.

And if you want to ask me anything please do.

avg updates at least once a week. zone alarm also updates frequently. tell your friend to update his programs.

AVG updates their library at least once a week, you can schedule the program to update daily if you wish.

I used to get that same script message all the time when I used IE. I guess that last phrase eventually became the solution. IE and Norton ran into all kinds of weird problems.
