I keep getting a fatal error when trying to upgrade 98se to xp pro in my system. The code is "5EAFF58h". is there Any way to find out what this code means???

exactly when does this error come up?
do you still have 98se installed when you try to upgrade?
maybe you should wipe the drive first and then install xp.

you could find the code in the event log.
im not sure where to find the event log in 98se tho.

I have the upgrade version of xp install. So i think i have to have a version of windows on it before I install. Its funny though becuase I formatted my machine and I dont get the message now. The message that i get is "Windows xp has determined that drive c: is corrupt and setup cannot continue" So i went out and bought a 40 gig hard drive and i still get the same error when i go to install. I know it has something to to with my motherboard bios becuase to fix that error code message i fooled with the bios a lil bit. But now i get the hard drive message. Ihave a Sv266a Syntax motherboard with a western 40gig hard drive. I have 2 cdroms hooked up to the system as well with a pci Nvidia 3d card. Is there anyway to find out how to setup this bios so it works with my config??? any help would be awesome!
