everytime i go to download battlefield 1942 it stops at 61% and says specified compent cannot be found in the media. an attempt was made to accept a component that does not exsist in the named media.

Any ideas how to fix it? i did all my system updates.

um... it's either the disc or the cd rom driver, have you ever installed bf1942 before? what kind cd rom driver are you installing bf1942 from?

Or, it could be that installing illegal copies does not allow full installation?

Have you tried cleaning the cd? You could also try installing it on another pc, that way you'll know if it's a problem with the cd or with your pc.

This has just recently done this to me as well. Im not sure why. I've installed it FINE before I uninstalled it. Now it gives this missing audio component error. Exactly like the original poster

OMG!

This is the solution:

This (for me at least) is a problem for LAN PARTIERS!

You're CD2 or CD1 got swapped with someone bud, Mine did too, I went and got my friend's CD that I assumed was his, and swip swapped installing with different CDs from our Sets. Turned out I had MY CD1 and HIS CD2. And apparently MY BF1942 CDs were older than HIS CDs. So he had my CD2 and I had his CD2. The volume lables are off. On my CD it stops at 61% and needs CD2, like yours, and my friend's stops at 67% and then needs CD2. Hope this Helps ! :)

I recently uninstalled the game on my PC. Then did a fresh install of my OS. Now at 97% Everytime I get a media error. I took it to my neighbors house and works fine. I did not get the disc mixed up because I am the only one that has it nor did a give it to anyone for them to mix up the CDs. Did anyone actually find out what the solutions is? All my other software works and installs great including some very new software with out any problems. Anyone let me know if they found a solutions because I have a Battlefield to conquer but can not if it won't re install AND yes it is a completely original newly purchase software.

I cannot think of a reason besides my own, which is clearly not your problem.

If worse comes to worse, you could always install it on a friends computer, Burn all the files to (as many) CDs (that you need), then export the Registry files of your EAGAMES directory and include this file on the CDs as well. Copy the files to your computer in the same directory and then double click your exported registry file.

If you need a more in depth explanation in addition to this, simply post asking (I'm kinda in a hurry atm). GL, sorry I couldn't be more precise.
