Before I start here's some info:

I have had SC/BW for many years and it has worked fine.

I have Just gotten Windows XP and Norton Internet Security V 2004.

Okay. Here's my problem:
I started up starcraft. I went to Multiplayer and clicked broodwar. I click battle.net and it went to teh usually connection screen, but instead of connecting it says serching for the fastest battle.net server. Apparently it freezes andI have to push alt+del+control to get out of it. It is not a server problem. It's been going on for months now. And it's not a User Name issue because I've done nothing wrong. e.i. spamming hacking etc.

Here's what I've done.

I've contacted Blizzard (The company) and they gave me some support which didn't help. I've opened ports. And finally I've come to you guys. I am EXTREMELY DESSPERATE! Any information would be extremely useful. I'm lost here guys. HELP!

The thing with Norton 2004 is that they ask you if you want to give a certain program connection to the internet... When connecting to battlenet, alt+tab it, and you might get a nortan anti-virus 2004 pop-up saying something like, Do you want to give (I think) starcraft.exe connection to the internet? or something like, starcraft.exe is trying to access the internet. Just click on always allow this program connection. Its good to stop hackers / virus, cause you can block there connection to the net.

Hope that helps.

Yea and if that doesn't work, it might be a WinSock2 problem. By the way, did you upgrade from a older verison of Windows?

1) You're Antivirus/firewall blocks the connection between you're computer and Blizard, therefor, the process haults, leaving you with a frozen screen.
FIX IT: Well, you can try by ENDing the PROCESS of you're Antivirus/firewall, or to "ALLOW ACCESS."
2) Dial up ERROR: You may live in an area in which blizard does not support. THIS IS UNLIKELY but it could happen due to a faulty or slow internet connection that cannon connect with Blizard Server, RUN BY AT&T.
ANY PROBLEMS? dont hesitate to ask me. Email.
