I have recently purchased two EA games (Tiger Woods golf and Lord of the Rings) and am having the same problem with both. I have been in touch with EA support, but they haven't been able to solve the problem.

Essentially, all goes well with the installation of the game from the CDs. When I go to play the game, the computer asks to install the 'play' disk in the CD drive. When I put the correct disk in the CD drive, the exact same message comes up. It is like the computer can install files from this disk (it had no problem reading or recognizing the disk during the installation process), but it doesn't recognize the disk when it comes time to play the game.

EA support has tried several things to no avail. I only have one CD drive and it is correctly labelled.

I am running Windows XP with DirectX 9.

Any ideas???

You say your CDROm is corectly labeled O_o. Use craks as last resort. After all you purchased the game, so no harm ;)

EA might have brought out a new copy-protection scheme thats so new its screwing up - or perhaps your CD drive just hates those CD's. if you read the readme of Age of Mythology for example, it will tell you that there are certain CD drives that the game may refuse to run on, the Liteon 4265 being one of them. the problem described by Microsoft: You may experience problems with this drive appearing to hang and not authenticate. There are no known solutions.. etc etc. test the CD in a different computer. if it works. try a new CD drive in ur computer. if that works, then good.

I understand that. I remember reading that Diablo II will not work in any CD burners. The best thing you could do as said earlier, is to just test it in a different CD drive, or on another computer.
