yeah I get the same error. Same with sims deluxe. I have tried EVERYTHING suggested EVERYWHERE:
*closed all bg apps.
*discs are FINE
*cd drive runs fine (although one is messed up and won't open so I am using my external USB 2.0 drive, runs 40x)
I can't remember all of the little things I've tried, but none of it works. In sims it gets to 95%, has c.transfer error, even after trying to install from HD.
Same with SWG, only after like 5 seconds of installing. And it seems to happen during installation of sound or music. So I'm wondering can this cause problems?
I run winXP pro
AMD Duron 1 gig
Nvidia gforce 4mx 64 mb
256 mb ram
plenty o' hd space, about 10 gigs left
my sound is integrated, VIA audio... can this be my problem? I'm guessing this or maybe my drive? Some kind of conflict? I installed BF 1942... it works..( but not with sound, ANOTHER sound issue! gah! I'm getting the patch maybe it will fix THAT problem).
ANyway, any help would be great, as I've searched everywhere in support and forums and found no solution that works :(
thanks guys.

Ok I was just checking, because after doing a search about that kind of error, just about everything that came up was about ISOs.
Do you have all the critical updates for WinXP installed from Windows Update?

From SWG's Technical Support Website:
This can be caused by a few different things, such as bad CDs, a problem with the CD/DVD/CD-RW drive reading the discs, problem with the system writing it to the harddrive, or an outdated Installshield engine. You will want to make sure that the CD is not scratched or dirty.
The first thing you can try is to copy the contents of the entire CDs into temporary folders on your desktop (make separate folders for each CD labeled "disc 1, disc2, and disc3") and run the setup.exe file from the folder for the first CD.
You may also want to try updating the Installshield Engine from: http://consumer.installshield.com/utilities.asp

well it was as I feared, I needed a new cd drive. I went and bought a dvd-rom for like 45 bucks, drives are pretty cheap, didn't know that haha. But it installed SWG and Sims just fine. Thanks guys.
