Does anyone know if there has been any news regarding the performance of Diablo2 with GeForce cards?

Just to restate the problem, it seems that GeForce cards have real problems running Direct 3d mode. When I run it, it is very choppy for some reason. I have read siminlar problems with many other people as well.

For now I have been running it in Direct Draw and it runs ok.
The sad part is that I had a VooDoo 3 2000 before my GeForce and it ran perfect the all the time. I almost wanted to get my VooDoo back. :)

Well if you have any updates it would be cool.

Thanks

Well, it's really a case-by-case basis on whether a GeForce card will work properly in D2 via Direct3D ... most of the time, the problem lies with the drivers you use.

I had a GeForce DDR-DVI on my P3-500 last year, and Diablo II on D3D was AWFUL - flickering screen and slanted images, and the occasional freeze-ups ... tried all the drivers I could download and nothing worked, so I took out the GeForce and put in a Viper II, and D3D worked flawlessly.

Earlier this year I built this Athlon 1GHz and put in a GeForce2 Pro. Diablo II worked flawlessly on it with the default drivers the video card came in.

Until now I still don't know why my original GeForce did not work well with D2 .. it may have been a motherboard/video card issue, or it may have been a driver issue ... D2 is so buggy you don't know which to blame when something goes wrong, so most people just blame D2 :D

I recently bought a P4 with a GF3 and I have to say it works flawlessly with D2 and LOD. I run the game at 800*600 D3D with all the options activated and I have yet to see a slowdown. But then again it may just be brute force.
