What is this file

Win ME - My nortons indicates that I have a virus in a file named 97281.exe. Does any one know what this file is for. Norton cannot repair this file and has quaraniend and indicates that I should reinstall it. Only one problem is I do not know what it for.

Where was this file detected as in what directory?

If Norton quarantined the file and could not repair it, more than likely the file is the virus itself, detected before it could do damage. Was there any name designation for the virus other than the file name you stated?

What version of Norton do you have? If it is 2003 or 2004 you should be entitiled to free email support at the Symantec site.

This may also have been a false positive, but it's hard to say without more information.
