i am currently running asus p4pe(845 chipset) win xp pro, 2 gig p4 cpu, 1 gig corsair xms on 2 512 mods. pny nvidia geforce 440 64 mb ddr video. my system seems limited in gaming. i like war of the ring online. the p4pe has onboard broadcom lan. i wish i had the gigabit to try.
i have tried an asus radeon 9200 se/t 128mb ddr but it is bunk or conflicting somehow. i think i am reaching the limitations of the 845 chipset. i can support a huge cpu on this board but is it worth the investment? i need more video power and the agp is limited to 4x(so says asus due to the 845 chipset). i would appreciate any suggestions concerning my best options for video on this p4pe. what is the best 4x agp card i could run? can i out perform the agp interface by using a good pci card? if so what would a good pci card be?
i also consider buying a new 8x agp mb and video card. i would still like to get some use out of the 2 gig p4 cpu. any suggestions on motherboards and video cards? i still like the idea of the gigabit lan if that is possible.

A good AGP video card will help more than a new motherboard. 4x won't be that limiting at all. How much would you be willing to pay for a video card?

at this point, with what i have already spent, and with consoles looking more and more appealing, price is no object.

If price is no object get the Radeon 9800 Pro 256 meg... that will kick some major ass

I'd say a 9600XT (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-331&catalog=48&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0) or a 9800XT (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-317&catalog=48&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=0) if you really want to go all out.

go for 9800 pro 128, over a 9600xt.

GeForceFX 5700 Ultra or 5950 Ultra 128mb. You dont need 256mb on a video card, unless your running a bunch of monitors and CAD.
