Slow sound in vice city

When i start playing Grand theft Auto Vice City its fine but after a while the sound slows down. The frame rate is good but the sound is like its playing in slowmotion. All radio stations including my mp3s are effected and all other soumds seem to do the same.

I have a Via AC'97 enhanced audio inbuilt saound card.
athalonxp 1.7 gigs
512 ram
64meg geforce 4 mx

What could be causing this?

P.S it does not do this on any other game exept the original Grand theft Auto 3.

Aww come on people please answer. I love this game but with slow motion sound its just not the same. Someone must know how to help.

Make sure your using the Miles2D sound.

Also, you may want to update your sound card drivers, just in case. It may not be the problem, but it's worth a shot.
