I have 5 computers on my network, including three XP Home, one Windows ME, and 1 Windows 98. They are hooked either directly, or through 10/100 hubs, into a 10/100 Linksys router. All share files, "see" each other on the network, and share an internet connection though a DSL router. No problem.
My only problem is one of the XP machines cannot "see" or find any network games. I have Warcraft, Age of Empires, and Unreal Tournament as examples. All other machines are fine except the one XP machine.
Any ideas why it cannot see network games?

Is the Windows XP Internet Connection firewall enabled on the XP machine? If it is, try disabling it by following these steps:
a. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel
b. Double-click on Network Connections
c. Right-click on Local Area Connection and click Properties
d. Click the Advanced tab, then uncheck the box at the top if it's checked.
e. Click OK to save your settings
If you have a software firewall such as ZoneAlarm installed on that PC, try disabling that too.

Thanks for the help. The XP firewall was off, but I did have Zone Alarm installed on the machine. However, Zone Alarm was not running, I disabled it long ago. When I went to uninstall it there was a web application running, although Zone Alarm itself was not running. After I uninstalled zone alarm, everything works fine.

My friends and i had the same problem. WE are in college and on a University Network so we thought that setting up a LAN game would be easy (BTW we were trying to play Unreal Tournament). Anytime we tried to connect to each other we got error messages saying "mismatched de.u files). We scratched our heads for 2 and a hlaf hours till one of us had the good sense to go into the Unreal Folder and mail us all his copy of the de.u file.
I dunno if this is your problem but thats how we solved ours; once we deleted our own de.u files, and put his into our folders we cld connect easily.
