The problem could be in your video card...I once had lag spikes up to 8000! No joke. I cant get into the DoD Grimm#1 or #2 servers anymore. Anyway, change your video cards acceleration to full by going to your desktop, right clicking, selecting properties, then settings tab, then advanced, then trouble shoot, and slide that all the way up. Then click start, run, type in dxdiag then click display tab, then make sure directdraw acceleration, direct3d, and agp texture are enabled. if you want test them before you activate them using the nifty test buttons to the right of those... i hope this solves the lag problem... as i dont know the 98 interface as well as i used to, you might have to search around a bit. Hopefully if this hasnt helped you it will help another person.

How much better than what the game needs is the stuff you have (tell us your specs).
Just because you have what the game suggests doesn't mean the game will run well. If Lozer's solution isn't working out for you, go into the games settings and lower all the settings to the lowest possible.
Then the game should run without any lag problem, and you can go back to the settings, and up a few things at a time until you start seeing lag again.

You could also try defraging and cleaning you system. To do that go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools and you will find them in there. You also might have bad internet.
