That's pretty much it. I know what portforwarding is and have forwarded ports 6112-6114 to my local ip address in the router(sharing dsl). It seems like everything should work, but it doesn't. We used to be able to host using the same setup and somewhere along the way it has just stopped working. We've tried 3 different routers, using portforwarding on each but no luck. Don't really know what else to try cause everything should be working, but it just doesn't. I've even tried putting my comp in the DMZ and that doesn't work. I've read some about dsl modems having built in NAT, but it was working using this same modem and now it has stopped. Could the phone company somehow have upgraded or turned that function on somehow without us knowing? Thanks for any help.

ports 4112 through 4119 are needed. I heard that you need 4000 also, but I have also heard differentally...

DURR, ports 6112 through 6119 are need to be open UDP / TCP
And Silly.....
Opening ports is having to do with a firewall no matter what....
OR a router with an inbuilt firewall....

Yes, there are. If your modem doubles as a NAT router and you have a router connected to the modem, you need to forward the port to your router in the modem's settings, and then to your computer in the router's settings. What kind of DSL modem do you have?
The only way your ISP could prevent you from hosting is if they block the hosting port, inbound. If you can't host with your DSL modem and your ISP isn't blocking the port, you need to re-configure your modem for hosting.
Also, what kind of router are you using at the moment?
You only need to forward the port that Warcraft III is using in its Game Options to host, and the protocol is just TCP. Warcraft III uses port 6112 for hosting by default; I don't know why Blizzard tells people to forward port 6113-6119. I'm guessing that they tell people to do that for port triggering if more than one person connected to the router wants to host (each person must use a different port, and I have heard that Battle.net supports up to eight connections from one IP address, not four connections). Port 4000 is for Diablo II.
