yes, its stupid. xp is more stable and less buggy, believe it or not. you ll have a better shot at getting xp to work with whatever that is than 2k, unless its well over 5 years old.
however, aside from purchasing 2k, you will need to repartition, format, and then install the new OS.

Dude, Redwench is totally right. Don't be a fool! 2000 sucks. And one more thing...Never shop at Old Navy! (wait...is that what you were talking about? oops)

You should post your specific problems. Perhaps we can help you fix your issues with WinXP rather than you reverting to an older, buggier operating system... :)

You are right Shalome, thanks for the idea. My specific problem is that the Album Printing screen in my HP Imaging software has a black screen and can't be used because the function buttons are not visible. Spend 2 sessions with HP phone support (4 hours) and no fix. They even sent new CD with newest drivers. Have installed ALL Windows XP updates. Removed all other image type software (adobe, picture it, etc) then Re-installed XP and Re-installed widnows updates. Still no fix. HP is stumped and so am I.
Would be appreciative for any suggestions. Doc

Have you tried specifically updating the drivers on your video card? Go to the website of the manufacturer of your video card and download the newest drivers. It really sounds like that may be your problem. It's really unlikely that the drivers on the software HP sent would have had anything to do with your video card, and Windows updates don't update your video card drivers either.
If you don't know how to update your video card drivers, post back and we'll walk you through it. :)

2000 sucks
Umm... no it doesn't. It can work just as well as XP, and it's a big improvement over previous versions of Windows. 2000 and XP are not that different, and they can work equally well on one's system. All of the Windows 2000 PCs I've used/seen used have been rock solid.
I'd agree that ditching XP for 2000 would be a bit silly, though, as XP should do just fine.

You can wipe out XP home/XP Pro using windows 98 boot disk. It'll ask for three options. Choose without disk CD support. Type cd.. in the command prompt until you're at c:\ then type format c: <enter>, yes... you're HD will format. Then you can install a fresh 2000.
Another way is pop in 2k disk & follow the steps. You can wipe out the partition XP resides on & then repartition to like 10000k. You want to have the OS in a seperate partition so you don't crash it later on. You can just load all your programs on the (D:\) after that.
