ok, ill try to make this easy
-i go to a site, just any ol' site
-i click on a link that will open up in a new window
-this window will stay white and will not show
-this window will not close when i X it or right click close it
-i can close the site which provided the link
-this causes me not to be able go to any other sites while i am using AOL 8.0 and it wont let me use Internet Explorer
-what can i do to fix this?
P.S. i use Ad-Aware and Nortons and these programs dont seem to fix it or anything

before you run off to do more scans (yes, youre going to), run a manual update on windows, adaware, and norton and rescan. at this point, youll probably have nothing horrible lurking, but just to prevent further problems, run the online scans at
www.trendmicro.com
www.trojanscan.com

then download, update, and run http://security.kolla.de also use the immunize function, and install spyware blaster, which is a seperate program.
then run a scandisk w/error correction, defrag, and reboot.

attempt to download a different browser, like firefox. wander over to your control panel under settings, and select internet options, then hit the security tab. enable or prompt all permissions, you can reset them later. go to the advanced tab and do the same.

determine at this point if its all browsers or limited, so you can decide on the next step.
