program keeps shutting off

My anti virus program, after finally uninstalling and reinstall, still wants to shut down after the scan starts. About 30 secs into scan and just shuts off. No warning. I've had a couple NT System initiated shut-downs. The REGEDIT also shuts down after about 30 secs. Not much time to get a good look at it.

run windows update first.

you most likely have something malicious on your computer that is preventing scanning and removal.

These scans cost $. Of which, I can't do anything about till I send in money. (no credit card) I can scan individual files and have found some virus types. Can I simply remove or delete them. Probly NOT. It's beyond me. Instruct me oh wise one(REDWRENCH)

Trend micro in center of page right under virus alert, last link "Free Online Scan"

Trojan Scan is free also.

dont try to delete a virus, unless the av tells you that its safe to do so.

as trek said, online scans are free.
