I just got starcraft, and when i try to play online via battle.net it gives me an error "Unable to connect. If you are using a router, firewall, you may have to initialize the connection manually" or something along those lines. I turned my firewall off, and same thing. Help is appreciated.

I hate that...I used to get it all the time with my warcraft 3. But it was because i was using a pirated CD!!!! I just went and bought the original.

Yes, nothing ive tried has worked. Ive turned off firewall, downloaded the latest patch, etc. I think it has to do with opening some ports in my router, but i can no longer access the router homepage by typing my ip address in the web browser.

Unless your router has a feature that allows it to block outbound ports and port 6112 TCP outbound is being blocked, you don't have to do anything in your router's settings. BTW, you don't type your computer's IP address or your ISP-assigned IP address into your web browser's address bar, you type the router's IP address in there.
Are your gateways USEast, USWest, Europe and Asia, or are they Battle.net 1, Battle.net 2, etc.? If they're the latter, that's not correct and you need to reset your Battle.net server list by following these steps:
Reset the Battle.net server list:
This step is not for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos or The Frozen Throne users.
Click on Start then Run.
Type regedit and click OK.
Click on the + icon beside the HKey_Local_Machine branch.
Click on the + icon beside the Software branch.
Select the Battle.net branch and press the delete key.
Click on the + icon beside the HKey_Current_User branch.
Click on the + icon beside the Software branch.
Select the Battle.net branch and press the delete key.
Now start the game and connect to Battle.net.
When you disabled your firewall, did you just right-click on its icon on the taskbar and click "Disable" or whatever, or did you go into the Task Manager and shut down any processes associated with the firewall? If you did the former but you didn't do the latter, please try the latter and see if you can connect. Simply clicking the "disable" option might not be enough.
