OK, when I first got this game,on dial-up, it worked just fine. but as soon as I got DSL, a few problems poped up. 1st, when I enter the game join screen and during gameplay I am only able to hear the host. 2nd, MAJOR lag during gameplay;so much that it was impossible to play and everyone would leave, including me. 3rd, the latency problem. I'm sure that most of the people reading this probably experience it. Most of the time its when me or my friends try to join eachothers games but sometimes it's with complete strangers. I went to the tech support channel and they said to open some ports which i forgot and need. And I also need to know how to do it. I have Windows XP just incase it's needed.

If you are able to join some games and play in them, port 6112 UDP (the port that Starcraft uses) is already open. However, you might have to open the port inbound if you want to host games.
Do you share your new DSL connection with any other computers in your home via a router, or are you directly connected to your DSL modem?
These issues seem to affect quite a few DSL customers, and there are two things I can think of that might contribute to the problem - the particular DSL modem you're using and how far away you are from the nearest switching station. If you're towards the very edge of the area that the station services, that could be a problem. If opening port 6112 inbound in your DSL modem's settings doesn't make any difference, I don't know what else to tell you besides this - while you're playing, make sure that all programs that eat up connection bandwidth are closed, such as file-sharing programs.

This might not sound very tech but it works for me. I'm on wireless network on cable internet as well. What you do is have everyone [Or just you, or nobody at all, this just helps the sucess rate I've found ] reconnect to battle.net
Then I'll name 2 people, A and B.
You are A and the person trying to join your game is B.
First try to join B's game. [ It usually works, strange enough ]
And then now you can host a game that B can join. Idk, It sounds really strange but it works for me 99% of the time. Also if works if it's more than 2 people. Let's say everyone but you can join B's game, then just make a game of your own and have ONLY person B join. Then once he's in, leave the game and have him make again.
That might sound strange but try it out.
