Hi I am also having problems hosting, However I am using dialup with bellsouth. I am connected to the internet through a another computer in the houshold over a LAN (directly connected to each comp's NIC with a standard RJ-45 rollover) I have disabled the firewall on each computer in the networking properties menu and still cannot host. Any advice or ideas to overcome this problem would be greatly appreciated.

If the computer that your computer gets its Internet connection through is running Internet connection-sharing software, you need to go into the software's settings and forward port 6112 TCP to your computer. Do you know the name of that software?

I am running XP home edition on both systems and used the network setup wizard to install my network connections on both computers... is that the information you need?
P.S. WOW that was fast! thank you sooo much.

If you're using Windows XP's built-in Internet connection-sharing software, here's how you configure it for hosting Warcraft III games on another computer (all of these steps are performed on the "host" computer, not the one that's hosting games):
a. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel
b. Double-click on Network Connections
c. Right-click on your connection and click Properties
d. Click the Advanced tab, and if you see two boxes with check marks in them in the middle of the window, click the Settings button in the lower right-hand corner
e. Click the Services tab, then click the Add button
f. Fill in the following information:
Description of service: Warcraft III
Name or IP address of the hosting computer: put in the IP address of the computer hosting Warcraft III games
External port number: 6112
Internal port number: 6112
Protocol: TCP
Click OK to save your changes, click OK again and then try hosting games on your computer again.
