When our computer boots up, it boots in a really bad looking 256 color mode. We can switch it around easily enough, though. The problem is we have to do it EVERY time the computer starts up., which is getting to be a huge hassle.

A week or two ago our old video card, monitor, and printer all died out at the same time. This probably has something to do with it. Now we're using the on board graphics that came with it and an OLD monitor we got from a computer junk store.

If you haven't already, update your on-board graphics card drivers - if they haven't been updated, most likely updating them will solve the problem.

It's not the monitor, as it simply outputs your Windows display settings, it doesn't control them.

Did you uninstall the drivers for your dead video card before you enabled the on-board video and installed its drivers?

Ok I'll try that stuff. It's kind of obvious, I should have thought of that stuff myself. If that's it... sorry for wasting your time :( Thanks much though, I'll get back to you if that doesn't work.
