help me,... starcraft.....

ok heres my problem... whenever i get on aol then click on starcraft icon starcraft starts but then quickly closes and the mouse freezes ....... the rest of the comp is normal but the mouse is frozen.. i can still use buttons on the keyboard....help me?

Although I highly doubt that AOL has anything to do with your problem, let me ask you this... if you don't start up AOL and then try to play Starcraft, does Starcraft start up?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game yet? I understand that it doesn't seem like a helpful suggestion, but if this problem just popped up out of nowhere, a simple reinstall might fix the problem and replace any corrupted game files that are causing the problem.

Two general suggestions - scan for viruses/adware/spyware and check your hard disk for problems with Scandisk/chkdsk. An unusual problem like this might be caused by some malware or a simple bad sector on the hard disk.

yes starcraft works normal when aol isent opend and i tryed re-installing it over and over and over.... it all started when we upgraded to aol 9.0......... or should i say AOHELL...... well hope i can find out the problem :(

Umm... if the AOL software really is the culprit, I honestly don't know what to tell you besides "get a different ISP that doesn't require you to use special software".

I'm not very familiar with the AOL software, but if by chance there's an option to "downgrade" it, try that and see if the problem goes away. If it does, you know for certain that AOL 9.0 has something to do with the problem.

well i looked but there is no downgrade option... i thought it might be the pop-up control thing but i tryed and it still freezes i looked around my comp and it found a thing called "n-case" that aol requires....but it also said that the "n-case" file is cerupt but if i get rid of it ill loos aol then it wont matter if i can play starcraft onlin or not...:(

N-case is spyware... you're telling me that AOL requires you to have it installed if you want to connect? :p

the older versions of aol did not require the "n-case" but sence they came out with 9.0 it now requiress it for some..odd...reason...

if icant figure out how to fix it i guess ill just have to give up on all of my games online until i get my own comp and can swich to earthlink...

and even ifi close aol then try and open a game the mouse still freezes so if i want to play i have to restart the comp

i suggest version 7.0 or 8.0 but try 5 since thats the highest they have there.

No, that shouldn't matter, especially if Starcraft was working fine before you got AOL 9.0.

I really don't know what else to tell you besides "get a new ISP", if AOL 9.0 is the culprit.

the reason i thought that my comp year might matter is becuz aol 9.0 might be to new for my 1989 comp and thats y it freezes

no that wouldnt be it because i had AOL running on a computer from 1994. I think you should switch ISPs as Smith said..AOL is really bad and I couldn't make it work for Starcraft either btw. Verizon rocks, I love it!

hmmm well thanks for the advice but like i said its my mom's comp and she wont let me change anything like that cuz she uses it too
