Newly built PC:- Gigabyte GA-7N400P m/b with Athlon K7-2600 chip & 512 Meg PC3200 memory one 80Gig SATA HDD, Sony 16xDVD & 3.5 floppy. Keyboard & mouse.
No other h/w yet added - no apps s/w loaded.
Installed Win2000Pro. Runs Ok in safe mode.
In normal mode, system freezes within seconds of Windows initialisation.
If re-booted without Mouse attached, Windows works OK with keystrokes only, but
is (obviously) very clumsy to use.

New mouse purchased ( Microsoft Optical Blue ) – has both PS/2 and USB connectivity.
System behaves as above regardless of which connection method is used.
Windows XP Pro Installation attempted. Windows works OK with keystrokes only, but system freezes within a few seconds of any mouse movements.
Western Digital (IDE) 10 MegHDD fitted and Windows XP Pro Installation attempted System again behaves as above, OK without mouse but freezes within a few seconds of any mouse movements.
Help :-(
