Interenet failing

I log on and within min. I lose the IE web browser. Any ideas why?

Can you be a little more specific? When did it start happening? What error messages are you receiving? Does just IE shutdown or does your whole PC shutdown/restart?

it just stops working. then you get a timed out error and cant find a server. I would go into more detail but I am worried I couldnt get it through befor it shuts down

it started happening about 2-3 weeks ago. at first I thought it was the internet just going down but now I can play online games direct but web browsing shuts down in 5-10 min or 3-4 emails i open.

ah, well hopefully you have a friend that can help you with this. have someone download mozilla from www.mozilla.org . this is a browser/email suite that is not based on ie. they can transfer the setup files to you via icq or some other IM or p2p program. then install them, and see if they have the same issue.

Might also be caused by worm or trojan, run Antivirus program just in case. When you are on line playing games you can also be attacked the real way. Make sure that you have Firewall. :)

Ive tried running anti virus scans but nothing. anyone know where a free online scan is? LMK thx

Try www.symantec.com securitycheck you download small program for the on line antivirus scan and if some found then goto www.symantec.com/downloads and Virus Removal Tools and sownload required virus/worm removal tool.
