I installed Norton Internet Security 2003 on my sister's EMachine 566iE, and when I tried to do a system scan, it gave me a Windows page that said Virus Scan Engine could not initialize. The Firewall and every thing else seems to be working fine. The OS is Mellineum. any help will be appreciated.

Have you rebooted since installing?
I'd try that first if you haven't.
Have you updated using Live Update? Try that second, rerun Live Update till you are sure the server has sent them all to you and the updates have installed, then reboot again.
Do you have any other antivirus or firewall programs installed? Symantec (Norton) advises against it.

Nygulkek, I've re-installed, and rebooted several times. I have found an article on the web, that may have solved this for me. If so, i will get back to you and let you know. Thanks much.

Symantec has also FAQ section, where there are several answers to their products. In some cases sertain updates are needed with Windows and with Symantec product.
With updated Windows OS and correct configuration the Norton Internet Security works well, several people that I know has it without any problems.
