Greetings-

I need my PC to dial up to my ISP automatically every night at a set time (let's say 10PM).

I can then schedule my McAfee AV to launch auto update and scan my PC.

I need DUN to disconnect when there is no traffic.

Any ideas/recommendations on writing a batch script or even better, a shareware to do this?

This is for a non-profit organization so I have $0 to spend.

I would not recommend to leave PC dial up to anything without me beeing in charge of the events, i.e what is actually downloaded.

I got scared by the film Space Odyssey 2001 and the Hall. :)

In the morning there might be a very bad surprice.

i agree its not a good idea. but you can set your dialup connection to "always connect" in internet options and select connect automatically on your dialup networking, and it will dial out when Mcafee tries to connect to the server.
of course, that means that any program that wants to connect can do so at any time.

Thanks for your opinions.

I agree that auto dialing is somewhat risky; however, the person using the PC is non-technical and I don't have the time to adminster the PC everyday.

I found a shareware called HiDialer2000 which has a function to auto dial /auto disconnect on schedule. I plan to setup Zone Labs Firewall so that only McAfee can access the internet at that time.
