AOL may be planning to lay off up to 1,000 employees from their online division of 16,000. Here's a snip from the Washington Post (http://www.washtech.com/news/media/11861-1.html):

AOL Time Warner Inc., grappling with an anemic advertising market, is preparing to lay off as many as 1,000 employees in its online division, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The cutbacks, which are expected to come this week or next, would represent nearly 7 percent of the 16,000-employee workforce of America Online, the world’s largest online service, which is based in Dulles. The layoffs would affect slightly more than 1 percent of AOL Time Warner’s 90,000 employees worldwide.
